Inside Passage, Alaska
I spent some extra time reflecting on this piece. It's such a tranquil scene even while there's noticeable energy in the clouds we're traveling through on a calm sea passage.

Clouds Creeping Over College Fjord
You may ask how a fjord in Alaska gets the name 'College', well it happens when a railroad baron burns out and decides to explore the last frontier to unwind. But he can't go by himself so he brings the best naturalists and scientists he knows with him, and after discovering this fjord filled with glaciers they decide to name them all after the colleges they and their wives attended.

Harvard Glacier, College Fjord
I learned on this trip that blue color in the glacial ice is best seen when it's not getting direct sunlight. This is very evident in this picture. Harvard glacier was by far the biggest tidewater glacier we saw, at least where the glacier touched the water. The part of the glacier that was in the water was at least twice the length of our cruise ship. Quite a sight to behold.

Polychrome Overlook, Denail National Park
When my wife started talking about a possible trip to Alaska I started to look at places that were visually interesting and Polychrome Overlook was one of them that stood out as you can see why. The dramatic clouds were just icing on the cake.
